Hi, everyone! I'm Megan Gold, Miss Oklahoma! My journey to the Miss America stage began as a shy 13 year old. I watched the Miss America Competition and was inspired by the confident, well-spoken, world-changing women I saw on the stage. Now, I'm humbled and honored to join the elite and inspiring group of women taking the stage at this year's Miss America 2023 Competition.
I'm grateful to the Miss America Organization for the friendships made, life skills learned and scholarships earned. Growing up in Oklahoma, the weather fascinated me. While other young kids were watching cartoons on the weekend, I tuned into local television to watch the weather. This early interest in weather led me to the University of Oklahoma where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and a minor in Broadcast Journalism. With the confidence and communication skills gained participating in this organization, I'm now a broadcast meteorologist in Tulsa, OK. You can catch me on News On 6 on weekend mornings.
As Miss Oklahoma, I speak to a variety of audiences about my efforts to End Senior Hunger. When my grandfather could no longer prepare nutritious food for himself, my family got him on the list for mobile meals. Through this program, he received a hot, nutritious meal each day along with a visit from a volunteer. I was touched by the kindness of the mobile meals volunteers, and I continue to advocate for ending food insecurity among older adults.
I'm so proud to continue the legacy of Miss Oklahoma and represent the state at this year's Miss America Competition.
Competition Dates: Prelims Dec 12th & 13th, Finals Dec 15th
