On Wednesday, May 6th, my dog Boots suffered a freak accident while we were playing outside. He sustained a spiral fracture on his right hind very close to his joint. Splinting was decided to be inadequate for proper healing, and on Thursday, May 14th, he underwent surgery to repair the leg. He received several screws, a plate and wire.
Boots has only been with our family for a month - an adoptee coming from The Bond Between animal rescue. This event has been quite a shock for me and of course, quite the ordeal for Boots. My hope is to raise some money to help cover some of the cost of his surgery and ongoing care he will need as he heals in the next 8 or so weeks.
