Please read my story below and thank you for considering supporting my fundraiser for the True North Vet Hospital Pet Fund. The staff at True North Vet Hospital had gone and above to help pets like mine and I want to help other pets and families they take care of.
Earlier this year our loving boy Arlo died at just over a year old from unexpected kidney failure. We were heartbroken, he was the best cat you could ever have asked for. There was a surgery that would have cost us over $5000 but there was little promise that it would work. The care he did get was wonderful but very expensive already and so instead of the experimental surgery, we had to put him down.
This month we privately adopted our boy Atticus. Unknown to any of us he also had kidney issues but completely different than Arlo. Within 15 days of his adoption after several expensive vet visits, he had to have a drastic surgery that we could not afford. We do have pet insurance but there is a waiting period. Atticus was one of the lucky ones, he was adopted by someone we knew in our Vet office, he received the surgery and now they have chosen to give him back to our family when he is healed.
Even before I knew he was coming home, I wanted to help other families and our vet office in some way. This situation was so sad for our family and there are many other families that can't even afford what we were able to do for Atticus. So I started thinking of ways to raise money to help the pet fund at True North.
It was then I decided I going to go big or go home. We had already talked about joining my Dad and Sister on their journey of hiking the 4000 footers. So I'm asking if you'll support me through a small donation- I am hoping to collect $1 for every foot of the 6,288 feet to the top of Mount Washington. I will spend the summer training and hiking some smaller mountains and make it to the top of Mount Washington by the end of the summer. 100% of the funds after the online fundraising fees will be donated to the Pet Fund at True North Veterinary Hospital to help pets in need.
