My friend Jessica has been STRUGGLING for the past 16 months to keep a roof over her family's head and food on the table. Some of you may be familiar with her story, as I created a GFM campaign at the beginning of 2023. That campaign raised a total of $3,860- Praise God for all who contributed. This moved us ALMOST to 1/4 of the goal. I am humbly reaching out again on her behalf and am using this platform as it does not charge a fee. The Barbers live extremely modest and I'm hoping to raise enough to help her get through until her husband starts receiving his disability check. They have already been approved but likely will be 4-5 more months until they see any actual money.
A summary from Jessica....
"My husband was diagnosed with a rare lung disease in 2022. The doctors wrote him out of work permanently. I immediately applied for disability. In the meantime, I have been taking care of our 4 children, working two side jobs, being a caretaker to my husband and running my own business, which I am having a really hard time getting up off the ground.
We have gotten behind on bills and have started inquiring medical bills on top of that after 10 months of waiting my husband was approved for disability, but was told there would be a waiting period of up to five months and that he would not be receiving backpay, which is something we plan to appeal, I have been struggling to barely make ends meet and I’m asking for financial help and getting caught up with paying my bills.
In the past year and a half my husband has also been diagnosed with numerous other medical conditions, which in turn caused social services to expedite his case. The doctor put in an order for my husband to have an MRI because the doctor suspected that he could have a possible brain tumor, but the insurance would not cover it, this is also something that we have had to appeal and have still been waiting on a decision to be made.
While I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, we still have many hurdles to cross, and I am reaching out in all faithfulness and humility to anyone that is willing and able to help. I know God will provide for me and my family, and in return He gets all the glory."
As a mother myself, it's been quite heartbreaking to witness. While I'm deciding on where to order my coffee on the way to work, another mother is deciding whether to put her $5 toward rent, gas, or canned food. I cannot imagine the immense amount of stress this is causing on a daily basis.
