Our family is reaching out with heavy hearts, but also with hope, to ask for support for my brother, Steven, who was recently diagnosed with small cell carcinoma of the lung.
For anyone who knows Steven, you know that two of his greatest accomplishments in life are his family and his career as a police officer. He has dedicated his life to protecting and helping others, and he is the kind of person who will always go above and beyond for someone in need. Steven is also usually the last person who would ever ask for help himself. Now, during one of the most difficult times of his life, we are asking for help on his behalf.
This diagnosis has been devastating for our entire family, but especially for Steven, his wife Monica, and their children. Steven has always been a main source of support for his family. Their son has just started college, and Monica is doing everything she can to hold their family together and keep life as normal as possible for their children—all while working, caring for Steven, and accompanying him to chemotherapy appointments.
Steven’s treatment plan is aggressive, and he will need to be out of work for an extended period while he focuses his energy on treatment, healing, and getting stronger. The financial stress of being out of work is something we don’t want him and Monica to have to carry on top of everything else they are facing.
We want Steven’s focus to be on one thing: fighting this cancer and getting back to the family and life he loves.
If you are able to donate, no amount is too small. Every contribution will help ease some of the financial burden while Steven undergoes treatment. If you aren’t able to donate, sharing this fundraiser and keeping Steven and his family in your thoughts and prayers means just as much to us.
Steven has spent so much of his life showing up for other people. Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
We are incredibly grateful for every donation, share, prayer, message, and act of kindness. Our family has a difficult road ahead, but we are facing it together with love, strength, faith, and hope.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting Steven, Monica, and their family during this fight. 💙
One day at a time. One treatment at a time. Together, we fight.
