Over the past two months, federal immigration enforcement efforts in Minneapolis have shaken our community — leaving deep emotional and financial scars on immigrant families who call North Minneapolis home.
Through a neighborhood teacher, Kayla was connected to three of these families. What began as simple requests for grocery support quickly grew as the federal presence continued — disrupting work, destabilizing income, and deepening already fragile situations. Now, Kayla and I (Carley) are working together to help meet these growing needs.
While each family’s circumstances are different, they are navigating deep uncertainty with remarkable resilience.
- Maria’s husband was detained out of state on his way to work. She is navigating this crisis alone—managing mounting legal fees and the cost of bringing him home on a part-time income.
- Lily has been forced to move her family of four into a smaller apartment and, after missing shifts, has had to rely on credit cards to cover basic expenses.
- Rebecca is supporting a family of five in a small apartment. In Ecuador, she earned income sewing handmade clothing. With a modest investment in supplies, she could begin generating income again and create stability for her family.
These families are doing everything they can. They simply need support to stay housed, reunite loved ones, and begin rebuilding. While the immediate threat of detainment has begun to ease, the long road to financial stability and healing is just beginning.
Your contribution will help provide:
- Emergency support for rent, utilities, groceries, and basic needs
- Legal assistance
- Stability for children whose family structures have been disrupted
- Initial capital for sewing materials and supplies
Your generosity sends a powerful message: this community stands together and refuses to leave these families behind.
Please donate and share to help these North Minneapolis families move toward stability and hope.
