In Loving Memory of Sven Eryk Johnson
— Be The Light Legacy —
Sven was an incredible light, a genuine down-to-earth soul with the kind of presence that drew people in and made them feel seen, valued, and deeply loved. He had a contagious smile, laugh, and eyes that lit up for the things and people he cherished. Creative, artistic, and deeply passionate, Sven was an old soul and a deep thinker who loved fiercely and lived fully. He had a gift for seeing people and helping them want to be the best version of themselves.
Sven was killed suddenly and tragically in a workplace incident on June 15th, 2026, leaving behind his significant other, Leah, and a family and community who are heartbroken but determined to honor him the way he deserves.
Sven was a Lead Journeyman Electrician, and he loved his trade. Not just the work itself, but what it gave him: a skill, a livelihood, a sense of purpose. He believed in giving other people that same chance. Sven would sit with his coworkers to help them excel in their own electrical careers, encourage kids to conquer their fears through volunteering for Climbing for Kids, and was always willing to see and help out someone who needed it.
What this fund will do:
This campaign has two purposes, and both matter deeply to our family.
First, to help Leah, as she navigates this unimaginable loss.
Second, we want to build something lasting in Sven's name: a nonprofit dedicated to helping people enter the electrical trade. Supporting them through training, certification, and access to the tools they need to get started. We also want the nonprofit to carry forward his connection to Climbing for Kids, supporting the kind of mentorship and joy he brought to those kids.
Our starter goal is $150,000, portioned to include an honorarium to Leah, and seed funding to get the nonprofit off the ground as well as a significant donation this year to Climbing for Kids in Sven’s honor.
Sven made people feel like they mattered. We want his legacy to keep doing exactly that. One apprentice, one kid on a climbing wall, one act of being truly seen, at a time.
Thank you for reading this, for remembering him with us, and for anything you're able to give.
With love and gratitude,
All of those who love Sven
