Our lives are changed forever on 10/19/23 when our sister Jennifer Lynn Gray was found by her roommate, not breathing.  Jennifer was the youngest, the baby girl.  She was the blonde hair & blue-eyed little girl that stole everyone's heart growing up.  Fast forward about 10 years.  She had several hard years after losing our mother when she was only 17.  She pulled herself up and got herself together.  She was a single lady with no significant other or children to pick up to the hard task of memorializing her and laying her to rest.  That task, my friends, falls on her sisters; Her eldest sister Teresa Cox (Gray) in Pitt County and me, Sheila Genske (Gray) in Wisconsin.

She didn't have a lot of material things and was honestly and completely ok with that.  She would say, "I don't owe nobody nothing, I don't have shit, but I don't owe nobody nothing!"  She had a handful of people in her life that she really leaned on, talked to and felt comfortable with.

No one prepares for this to happen. No one imagines this will happen.  You want to make sure you honor your loved one and what you think they would have wanted.  We will be dealing with grief of losing a sibling for a while.  I know Jennifer wouldn't have wanted a super flashy send off.  Just some good Southern home cooking and maybe a few cold beers!

We don't know the exact cause of death at this time.  We are waiting for updates.  But in the meantime, we have to start preparing.  This is where all of you come in to play.  Our friends and extended families are all asking if there is anything they can do to help to let them know.   Honestly, here's how.  Help us with donations for funeral expenses.   If you would like to help, you can donate to our Spotfund account or Paypal at sgenske73@yahoo.com. Donations are much appreciated beyond words!

She would have been 46 this December.  From the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate all of you and your generosity.

As we approach the 1 year anniversary of Jennifer's death, this week we finally heard the cause of death for our sister.  The coroner has it listed that she had Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease with diabetes contributing to this.  There were no illegal drugs in her system and her regular medications were at a therapeutic level.  We finally have some answers. 😇  RIP little sister!   We love you and miss you daily!  ❤️

Thank you again to everyone that contributed after her passing.

UPDATE!

Teresa received the call late yesterday from the medical examiners office.  They completed the autopsy and collection of tissue and lab work process.  There is still no obvious signs of cause of death or broken bones.  It could take another few months before we get the full picture of exactly what caused Jennifers passing.

With that being said, the family is planning a small service at Community Baptist Church, 4094 N. E. College St., Ayden, NC 28513 on Friday 10/27/23 at 3pm.

Our family appreciates all of the prayers and donations.  Please continue sharing as we could use all the help we can get to cover the funeral cost and if there fees associated with the autopsy.

Sincerely,

Sheila & Teresa  🤍❤️🤍
