His story is an amazing one. After a workout with his younger brother, Joshua, former USA Track and Field Coach Debbie Hammond took notice of the brothers working out on the track at Williams Middle School in Rockwall, Texas, and approached them with an invitation to try-out for her AAU track club, the Texas Titans. Landon took the invitation and succeeded in the tryout phase, earning a roster spot with the Texas Titans Track Club. This was God leading Landon to where he needed to be all along. In his very first year of competing in the sport, Landon has surprised himself and surpassed his own expectations, continually setting personal best records in each meet on the schedule. This hard work has paid off in the forms of Landon advancing to the USA Regional Meet at Texas Christian University, and ultimately, QUALIFYING FOR THE 2023 USA TRACK & FIELD JUNIOR OLYMPICS at the University of Oregon's iconic Hayward Field, better known as Tracktown, USA, as a member of the 4x800 meter relay team.
The Junior Olympics will be held July 23rd-30th, 2023 in Eugene, Oregon.
Academically, Landon has a 3.6 GPA going into his senior year of high school at Sachse High School, ranking in the Top 25% of his Class of 2024. He also takes collegiate level courses in addition to his required high school curriculum.
With this event looming in the coming weeks, fundraising efforts have begun to ensure that Landon can focus solely on training and competing in the Junior Olympics. Any donations will be gladly considered and your willingness to help him along his journey will be graciously appreciated.
