We are currently serving over 500 at-risk teens with our Wise Advisors Program. Three years ago, we purchased our very first building, over 18,000 square feet with a gymnasium in the center. We have been renovating when funds allow. Currently, we are the only family resource center within our county and while we have many grants that fund our programs, we do not have funds to pay for things like our aging HVAC system.
With temperatures topping well over 100 degrees at the moment, many of our activities sadly cannot take place. Summer is key when young people have "extra" downtime and we don't want to go another season without being able to provide our community this wonderful space.
Our agency has also allowed many other non-profits and community groups to utilize our gym for their needs and events but at the moment it is just too hot for them to do so safely.
Mentoring youth is crucial in helping them have a safe place while learning the skills they need to mature. Some of the wonderful activities our teens have taken advantage of at our center are life skills training, job readiness, resume preparation, woodworking, gardening, self-defense, sports, arts & crafts, to name a few.
We really need your help to cool our building down so we continue to offer important programming and care to our youth. Mentoring Matters!
Will you help?
