On January 2, 2025 my beautiful BabyBeast, my personal truck/RV/work vehicle got stolen by the city where it was legally parked in front of my house. I have been searching for it for weeks. I called the city DPW, local impound, all the tow companies, and filed a police report. I even drove around all the lots in town to see if I could physically find it with my own eyes.
Totally frustrated, today I was resigned to give up. But, before I did, I tried one last set of phone calls: police, DPW, impound, nothing. I tried one last time with the tow companies, without much hope. However! Today (47 days later) it showed up in the system at MidCity Towing. IT HAD BEEN THERE THE WHOLE TIME!
Intense relief turned to intense stress when they gave me the bill for "storage" a grand total of $2,500! Thankfully I was able to convince them to drop it down to $500 (bc I think the tow company knew the reason for tow was bogus, as it was most definitely parked legally). There will be a legal battle around this, but for now it is more important to get my truck back in my possession! ASAP!
$500 is not easy to find quickly in the current NOLA economy. So I am relying on the goodwill of friends and neighbors. Please donate if you can, and if you are not able please post and share! Even a little bit is appreciated to get my Baby HOME.
BabyBeast is not just any truck, but a longstanding member of our community. She has been the transport and tow for many a friendly need. She has been a cozy bedroom for myself and friends who needed a warm bed for the night. She has been a Speak Easy, PhotoBooth, and dance platform. She got a few of us out of quarantine during COVID so we could flee to nature rather than mentally traumatize us during the New Orleans lockdown. She is also my primary work vehicle and has ALL MY TOOLS inside. I have taken a big hit in income while she is MIA.
