UPDATE: THANK YOU! We are fully funded with interest covered!!!!

Upon prompting from a friend, I have decided to leave this open past the close of the goal, for anyone who wants to continue to help out. Between this, co-pays at multiple apts a week, other medical equipment, our bank accounts struggling to get out of the negative, and other big impacts from this journey- I will humbly and heart-fully accept any bit of help offered.

When I opened this, I was afraid to share it and even when I did I wasn’t expecting more then a tiny bit here and there to help… I am honestly blown away by the generosity and care received. Not just in monetary but in words and encouragement. I’ve never experienced support like this in my life.

Thank you so so much. You have no idea what this means to me.

Heya! Thanks for stopping by!

I was able to place a preorder for a wheelchair this week! But the payments are going to come fast and hit hard. Pain and disability is now a permanent part of my life and navigating it has been exhausting. My life is rich with love, art, and purpose~ and still living on one income and navigating big medical bills is not for the faint of heart.

I was asked by a friend to start a little page so that they could help out with some medical costs. The main thing we need help with is covering this one!

This chair will help me attend art shows, get to dr apts, help with grocery shopping and more. It’s going to give me back some independence that I’ve lost. I can’t drive, work, or walk much anymore. But my spirit is strong!

I have had dreams about this wheelchair! I wake up and forget it’s not already in my living room. I know that it’s meant to be a part of my life and I am so excited to have it!

A little peek into my reality: sometimes I get to get out of the house when schedules aline and Justin pushes me around in a chair. Maybe he gets a phone call or has to use the bathroom. I get a little stuck. Facing a wall. Not quite turned enough to see the shelf of things I’d like to look at in the store. Or not quite able to get into the bathroom easily. The bad pain days… are bad.

This chair will allow me to have more control over how I move, when I get to go places, and how I get to participate in my own life. It has tight turns, double batteries that don’t run out for over 18 miles, and amazing compact travel capabilities.

The chair I have been using is hospital grade- I can’t push myself in it. I have to rely on others for mobility when I can’t walk. And it’s so huge and clunky and honestly just feels like it will tip over or fall apart.

The new chair will fix almost all of those issues- while giving me more comfort as a bonus. Less tipping risk, better off-road capabilities, It even has a cup holder.

This will also help me when hanging out with my son Despin- giving both of us more flexibility and independence and presence when going on adventures.

I don’t expect much, and am planning to sell as much art as I can to cover these payments- but if anyone has an urge to give a little extra- every little bit helps. This app doesn’t charge me any fees for fundraising, so everything goes straight to me. If you made it this far- thank you for taking the time to read, donate, and share. If you’d like to support by purchasing some art lmk your budget and I’ll send you pics of what I have available! Find me on TT on @CordeliaGrey.Space

UPDATE: THANK YOU! I am so moved that this is almost fully funded.

Upon prompting, I have decided to leave this open past the close of the goal, full transparency with interest and fees the payment for the wheelchair is more then the goal set here, it’s around 1,300 total. Between this, co-pays at multiple apts a week, other medical equipment, our bank accounts struggling to get out of the negative, and other big impacts from this journey- I will humbly and heartfully accept any bit of help offered.

When I opened this, I was afraid to share it and even when I did I wasn’t expecting more then a tiny bit here and there to help… I am honestly blown away by the generosity and care received. Not just in monetary but in words and encouragement. I’ve never experienced support like this in my life.

I am sobbing. When I created this I was hoping for a little help here and there- a few dollars gathered each month until I can get this paid for.

When I submitted the form for pre order I had no idea how we were going to make the payments. I just knew I needed this chair.

Something that was supposed to take one season of my life- has shifted into a permanent disability. A small part of me is still angry. Not for myself, but for those who meet me where I’m at. For Justin. For my son. There will be good days and bad days but nothing will be the same again. And that’s a lot to ask of anyone. I spent a lot of my life healing- recovering from trauma and neglect and abuse. Stories that don’t make it into the posts, but that sure as hell make it into my art.

The tables have been flipped. Now I have no choice but to accept the love and help offered to me. I rely on people now. I can’t cook a meal on my own, I can’t put my own shoes on, I can’t shave my legs. Life has changed so dramatically. And I face that with bravery and gratitude. Because while it’s hard- and some days the pain is unbearable… it’s also this immense blessing.

The person who cared for everyone and held space and served in birth work and did so much in the world- is now the person who has to ask for help. Now people hold space for me. Make room for me. Hold me.

I can’t begin to explain what that shift has done for my soul. I have never in my life been happier- because even in the trenches of pain all I have ever wanted is to do life with people.

And now that’s where I am. Day in and day out. I strive to create- to inspire- to move my art in the ways my body won’t let me move my limbs. And while this is too much to ask of anyone- it’s also the air that lets me breathe. The forced concentration on what I was meant to do right now. Make art. Write. Love. Bring light into the world and honor the darkness too.

I don’t know what’s next. But I know that I am deeply moved by this support. I’m already nearly halfway to my goal- and I don’t know how this happened but I know that I am deeply grateful for this. I don’t like to talk about money- but you can imagine. This is a big deal for me. Like a big deal. I didn’t know what was going to happen but this is more than I expected- so thank you so much.

Now this one tiny thing- this one immense thing- is lighter. And in a journey like this- making any small thing lighter- is everything.

Thank you.
