My name is Fares, and I’m from Gaza. My age doesn’t really matter anymore. Here, age doesn’t make much of a difference. What matters is that I’m a human being from this land, a person worn out by everything.
We are a family of 13.
Before the war, we lived in a simple
home. We did not have everything, but our home was full of warmth and love. We had safety. We had laughter. We had a normal life.
The war took all of this from us.
Our home was destroyed, and since then we have been displaced around 20 times. Every time we moved, we hoped it would be the last time. We are tired of running and starting over.
Now my family and I are living in tents.
The summer in Gaza is very hot. During the day, the sun makes the tent so hot that sometimes it feels impossible to stay inside. But there is nowhere else for us to go. We have very little electricity, so there is no air conditioning or even a fan most of the time.
Water is also very difficult to get. It comes to us by truck, but the deliveries are not consistent. We never know when water will come or how much we will have. When we get it, we have to make it last for 13 people for drinking, cooking, washing, and everything else.
My mother is tired. I see my nieces and nephews living every day with this heat, hunger, and fear. I wish I could give them a normal life.
I am tired too. I am tired of watching my family suffer. I am tired of worrying about food and water. I am tired of living in a tent and wondering what will happen tomorrow.
I do not want much. I just want to take care of my family.
Your donations help us buy food, water, and the basic things we need to survive each day.
Maybe the world has forgotten Gaza, but we are still here. We are still holding on and trying to live.
Please help my family if you can. If you cannot donate, sharing our story also helps us.
Thank you for standing with us.
Fares
