On the evening of May 9th, 2026 Ms. Short - my mother - lost her ability to stand up. A shallow, non-damaging fall occurred and EMTs (via 911) were required to get her up into her rollovator walker and bed. May 10th - Mother's Day - I needed to call 911 again after she had another fall. This time, the EMT team & Fire personnel transported us to the ER, and the hospital eventually admitted her that night. My mother was diagnosed with cellulitis (left lower leg,) and treated with IV antibiotics over the next eight days. Following discharge, an additional course of home infusion therapy (lasting two weeks, and administered by me) was prescribed. To further complicate matters, she was released in "mandatory one person assist" status. This means that she requires someone (me again) to aid her in moving around, and that she's an elevated fall risk. As such, my life has effectively been put on hold...but her medical bills have not.
I've repeatedly asked myself if I truly wanted to 'greenlight' this campaign. Recent events have demanded that my response be "yes." So, I respectfully submit this appeal.
