On 9/20, Cam was in a racing accident at Speedway 95 in Bangor. There isn’t very many times that I don’t go to the race track without Cam because I always have the thought in the back of my head that something bad will happen & I won’t be there, tonight that came true. He went to Speedway 95 to race a borrowed car. During the feature as he was passing for 3rd entering turn 1 his throttle got stuck, he hit and launched over a sandbank, rolled about 20 feet away onto his roof, crushing the cage. It took a while for EMT to get to him but he managed to get himself out. He was transferred by ambulance to the hospital where he remains admitted to the ICU. Cam needs surgery. He has 2 torn ligaments at his C1 vertebrae, C1 & T5 fracture, and a severed artery. After looking at the MRI doc said he had a guardian angel looking over him and he doesn’t know how he is alive or not paralyzed. Cam currently does not have health insurance, we are looking into those options, he is also the sole provider for our family. We love and appreciate all of you, whether you are able to donate or just share. We have an extremely long road ahead of us.

10/1 update- not much to update on Cam, we are kind of at a limbo while the antibiotics for MRSA Pneumonia run their course. Once he is out of the ICU is when physical and occupational therapy will start to get us on the road to going home. He took a few more steps today and graduated sitting in a chair from 1 hour to 3 hours! Slow progress is better than none🤍

9/30 update- Cam was able to sleep for a few hours last night. We found out he has MRSA Pneumonia which explains why he is struggling with a lot of mucus secretions, his breathing, and neck pain when coughing. Yesterday he got out of bed and sat in a chair for 1 hour, their goal for him today is to walk for the first time, with a walker. He will remain in ICU for now to monitor his breathing and swallowing. Baby steps, as always please keep thinking of us🙏🏻🤍

9/27 update- *1 week post accident*
Cam was awake for quite a while this morning despite still being on sedation medication, able to communicate by writing on a white board. He is on the schedule for the morning to go to the OR to have his breathing tube removed. If that does not go as planned he will have a tracheostomy placed temporarily, which will make him more comfortable and able to come off the sedation and get to healing up. He was initially supposed to be admitted for 4-5 days after surgery pending no complications but that wasn’t the case so we are still looking at being here a while longer. As always, thank you for all of your love, support, and prayers & please keep them coming🤍

9/25 update- Cams team just did the leak test with his breathing tube and there is the absolute smallest leak,  which is progress from yesterday but still not enough so he’s being kept comfortable and sedated a while longer. please know we appreciate all of the support but I can’t get back to everyone that’s why these updates are public. Trying to also take care of myself during this time and social media can be overwhelming. Please keep us in your thoughts❤️
