My family is urgently asking for help for my uncle, Julson Merdelus, who is currently detained by ICE.
Julson is a respectful, hardworking man who was forced to leave Haiti due to constant threats and insecurity. As a young man, he dreamed of becoming an engineer, but because of the violence and instability in his country, he never had the opportunity to pursue his education or live safely.
In search of protection and a future for his family, Julson traveled from Haiti to Chile. From there, he continued the journey on foot with his fiancée and their young daughter. He did this not out of choice, but out of necessity—to keep his family alive and safe.
Since arriving, Julson has worked nonstop to support his family. He is a dedicated father who always made sure his daughter was cared for. The day ICE detained him, his daughter was at school. He was supposed to pick her up, but despite knowing this, ICE still took him away. His child was left without her father, confused and terrified.
Now, lawyers are asking for $45,000 to help with his case—an impossible amount for our family. Every day, his daughter wakes up asking if her daddy is dead. This situation is devastating and inhumane.
We are pleading for help so Julson can be reunited with his daughter and family. No child should suffer this kind of trauma. Please help us bring him home.
