I will be running and fundraising for the Operation: Heal Our Heroes Survivor Series Virtual 5K Race this month in an effort to raise both awareness and funds for veteran mental health.
Many Americans are unaware of the fact that every single day nearly 20 military veterans are lost to suicide. Operation: HOH's mission is to end that epidemic by raising awareness around the importance of mental health and the impacts of post-traumatic stress (PTS)/ traumatic brain injury (TBI) while also providing resources to ensure each veteran can make a successful transition all the way home.
Operation: Heal Our Heroes is aimed at helping veterans transition home by helping them get access to private mental healthcare and other services by partnering with organizations that can effectively provide the attention and care required for the thousands of soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who have endured and continue to bear the psychological burdens associated with our country's time at war.
Please join me on August 22nd or 23rd by signing up to participate, or donating in support of this great cause. Any amount is greatly appreciated and goes a long way!
As some of you may already know, this is a cause I care about a lot. My family and I lost my uncle earlier this year, and he was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving in both Vietnam, and the Korean wars. He was lucky to come home and continue working for the US Navy as a civilian, but others were not so fortunate. My uncle was an advocate for all veterans and I am honored to contribute my support and run for this great cause in his memory.
Help me if you are able and let's not forget those who fought for us.
