My son, David, is a veteran who served three tours in the Iraq War, showing his dedication and courage both at home and abroad. After returning home, he graduated from TSTC in August and started a new job, working hard to provide for his family. Because he is still new at work, he doesn't have much sick leave or vacation time built up. His wife is the primary caregiver for his stepdaughter, who has a disability and sometimes needs to be hospitalized. Each time she's in the hospital, David takes time off to support his family and makes sure that they have what they need.
Now his family is facing another challenge. David's wife's brother is in urgent need of a kidney transplant, and David is a match. He made a selfless decision to donate his kidney on April 27th. Even though it means taking more time away from work, with no other income to rely on, he can't return to work until a month after surgery. Recovery will be tough, and the bills won't stop coming.
