2 years ago I became involved with an organization called Heart of Passion, a nonprofit organization that is run by local teens for teens with cancer. A group of teen leaders, including myself, work year-round to fundraise and plan for a three-night retreat in New Orleans for teens fighting cancer or in remission. We provide an stress-free and enjoyable experience for both teens and their families, providing meals and snacks that each guest will enjoy and making sure to have plenty of medical staff available at any hour. Through various activities such as nightly dance parties, breakfast at the aquarium, swamp tours, and games at Dave and Busters, there is something fun for every guest. However, with providing constant activities, hotel rooms, and meals, the experience can be costly. To continue this retreat at zero cost for each guest, fundraising is crucial.
