ππ Meet Fishstick.
A few weeks ago, I came across a Facebook post from Montgomery County Animal Shelter featuring a cat named Fishstick. He was an extensive medical case, and something about him grabbed my heart. I couldn't stop thinking about him. When I went to meet him, I knew he needed my help.
Fishstick suffers from severe stomatitis, a painful disease that causes inflammation in his mouth. Eating, something most of us take for granted, is often painful for him. Some days he's so uncomfortable that he doesn't even want to eat at all.
Since rescuing him, I've also discovered that he's dealing with severe diarrhea and a mass on his side that will require additional diagnostics and treatment.
What breaks my heart most is that despite everything, Fishstick is incredibly sweet. He seeks human contact, wants affection, and tries to play with his toys.
As someone who works in veterinary medicine, I'm fortunate to be able to provide much of his care myself, but the costs of diagnostics, medications, and dental surgery are going to quickly add up. I'm committed to doing everything I can for him, but I'm asking for help.
If you'd like to support Fishstick's medical care, any donation, big or small, will make a difference. If donating isn't possible, sharing his story could help him reach someone who can.
Fishstick has already survived so much. My hope is that one day he'll know what it's like to eat without pain, feel healthy, and simply enjoy being a cat.
Thank you for helping me give him that chance. β€οΈπΎ
