Our AC just died and it’s 94° inside our home with Mr. Louis and Mr. Tibbles depending on us.
Right now, in the middle of one of Phoenix’s most dangerous heat waves on record, our air conditioner stopped working. It’s currently 94 degrees inside our own home, and the forecast says it’s only going to climb from here toward 115 degrees over the next few days.
We’re not asking for a handout for something extra. We’re asking for help getting through the next few nights safely. Extreme heat isn’t just uncomfortable here in Arizona it’s genuinely dangerous, and the National Weather Service has Extreme Heat Warnings in effect across the Phoenix area right now.
That’s what scares us most, because we’re not just protecting ourselves. Mr. Louis, our dachshund, and Mr. Tibbles, our dwarf hamster, can’t tell us when they’re struggling. They can’t open a window or turn on a fan. Mr. Tibbles especially small animals like him overheat faster than dogs or cats, and in a 94-degree home, he has nowhere cooler to go. Watching them pant and struggle in a home that’s supposed to be their safe place is heartbreaking, and we refuse to just wait it out and hope for the best.
We’re trying to raise enough to get a pet-friendly hotel room for a few nights while we get the AC repaired or replaced just enough to keep Mr. Louis, Mr. Tibbles, and the rest of our family safe and cool until this heat wave breaks.
