GloryHouse: Revolutionizing Maternal Care
They say life has a way of preparing you for your purpose. For me, that preparation came through two moments that split my world into "before" and "after." The first was losing my father. The second? Learning that a family friend and neighbor, Brianna White passed away from childbirth complications just three months after I had my own baby.
I'm Adiyah Bell - neuroscientist, mother, and accidental tech entrepreneur. I say accidental because I never planned to build a tech platform. But sometimes, purpose finds you when you least expect it.
75% of maternal deaths in the U.S. are preventable. Knowing that these deaths are preventable is a statistic that keeps me up at night .We're not talking about rare, unforeseeable complications. We're talking about mothers who could be alive today if our healthcare system worked the way it should.
You might think, "Well, that's just a number." But for me, it has faces. Brianna White's smile. Tori Bowie's determination. Amber Isaac Rose's dreams. These weren't just statistics - they were mothers who deserved to watch their children grow up.
When God first planted the vision for Gloryhouse in my heart, I actually resisted it. It actually took me a couple of months to start working on it. The thought of building a whole software system seemed daunting and overwhelming. But I decided to answer the call.
A year and a half later, here we are. 80% of the platform has been completed.
Gloryhouse isn't just another app - it's a promise to every mother who deserves better. We're building the first-of-its-kind maternal care marketplace that connects mothers with qualified doulas and maternal support workers at the touch of a button. Think of it as Uber for moms.
Here's what makes us different:
- We're cutting through the red tape of insurance bureaucracy
- Every provider is thoroughly background-checked and certified
- Doulas can focus on what they do best (supporting mothers) instead of paperwork
- We offer both in-person and virtual support options
We already have 1,300 doulas eager to join our platform and 3,500 mothers on our waitlist. The digital maternal care market is projected to reach $11.2B by 2030. But honestly? This isn't about market size. It's about preventing the next mother from becoming a statistic.
After battling God about starting this business I asked Him what to call it. He said to name it Gloryhouse. Because every child is a piece of His glory that has been deposited into each parent, carefully crafted and planted in their mother's womb.
We're not just building a platform; we're building a movement. A community where:
- Mothers feel supported and heard
- Doulas can earn a sustainable living doing what they love
- Families can access the care they desperately need
Sometimes people ask me why I'm so passionate about this. The answer is simple: because it could have been me. The same statistics that took Brianna should have taken me too. But I'm still here, and with that privilege comes responsibility.
This is where you come in. Your investment in Gloryhouse isn't just funding another tech startup. It's helping build a lifeline for mothers everywhere. It's helping fulfill the promise I made to every mother who deserves better.
Join us in building Gloryhouse and restoring maternal care to what it was always meant to be. Because there are too many lives on the line for this not to work.
No other options are viable. Medicare programs only provide doulas with a portion for the cost of their services, and 40% of the administrative burden that doulas carry prevent them from being able to take on more clients
Together, we can make sure every mother gets to write her own story.
