Hello! If you don't know me, my name is Melissa Mattson, and I am an artist and fashion designer. Since 2012, I have been selling my handmade fashion pieces, hand-painted clothing and shoes, art prints, original t-shirt designs, and more. I have developed relationships with thousands of fashion and art lovers, and have been searching for a place to call home for "Cosmic Unicornz", the name my creations exist under, since our inception. We have vended at THOUSANDS of craft festivals, and had several short pop up shop stints.
This project will be a potentially permanent home for our art.
We need a space where our customers will feel comfortable shopping, getting measurements taken, and trying on new looks.
We hope to fill our new space with our handmade artistic designs and those from other designers in our community via consignment or wholesale agreements. We also hope to fill our space with art pieces, colorful decor, and other fun novelties for sale that bring us joy.
I plan to use a section of this space as a small workshop to continue to make my signature, fun, size inclusive fashion pieces for all ages and genders.
I also hope to offer private sewing lessons here, and other small art workshops.
I also constantly do alterations and seamstress work, and this is the perfect hub.
I would be HONORED to call the Canal District of Worcester, MA the new home to our artistic vision. This will also make our work much more accessible, since it is a short walk from Worcester's Union Station, home of the commuter rail and city buses. This location will also mean joining the vibrant community of the Worcester Public Market, where I will be an on site fashion designer.
This location is STEPS away from the Woo Sox Ball Park and right in the heart of Worcesters booming new shopping and dining scene!
Funds gathered through the fundraiser will help with:
-Professional signage
-Flooring
-Sink installation for art/painting workshop use
-Removal of the previous tenants displays
-Plastering and painting the walls (including a mural I paint with members from my community/friends/family!)
-Building window display shelving
-Private dressing room installation
and more.
I can't wait to share this beautiful new art and fashion shopping space with the world!
