It hurts me to tell all who knows Dre on a personal level that on April 11th he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the knee and will be undergoing a full leg amputation on April 17th to ultimately slow the tumor growth. Dre is my first dog and I would do anything in my power to keep him here with me and all of his friends and family as long as I can. Dre is one of the most loving boy, he is just under 7 years old and loves to be pet by strangers , play in his small pool during the hot summer months and loves his brother sam(shepherd). Everyone who ever meets Dre always asked “i want him can I have him!”
For those who don’t know what Osteosarcoma is it’s a type of bone cancer. Osteosarcoma is a fast growing tumor that if left unattended will create a short and painful life for your beloved pet. Unfortunately in most cases the cancer dosnt stop after the infected area is removed. It is recommend that at least 6 rounds of chemo is implemented for a much higher chance for a longer post operation life. I am not one to ever ask for help but I am on here to raise what we can to get Dre as many chemo rounds as possible to keep our beloved boy around as long as we can. I was telling Dre if you go you will make allot of people cry and no one wants to see there DRE BOY go so soon.
I would also like to take the time to tell those who have pets or thinking of bringing a new member into there family to please consider the resources out there to give them the best possible diet you can. Over 90% of animal cancers are due to poor diet and lifestyle and in many cases investing in an extremely high quality diet for your pet will keep unwanted autoimmune diseases and health issues away. I’ve always fed Dre a high quality dry food but in the grand scheme of things it is still a very high processed food source pumped with preservatives. Considering a raw food diet with proper vitamins and vegetables will keep you and your loved one happy and healthy. He has since been placed on a full raw food diet with raw meat and a super green mixture.
