Star Award Winner Paramedic/EMT Rob Spencer needs our help now!

Wednesday afternoon Robs wife Susan found him on the garage floor unconscious and unresponsive. She called EMS and he was transported to Baylor-Smith hospital in Temple Texas.

He was  having seizures and immediately admitted to ICU.

He has undergone extensive tests and procedures and put on a vent to give his  body a rest while they try to find the cause of his illness. So far doctors have tentatively determined it to be Autoimmune Encephalitis and are awaiting results from a few more tests to confirm this diagnosis. He is still in ICU and will be for a few more days until he can come off the vent and breath on his own. His doctors have several more avenues  to explore before final diagnosis.

Rob and Susan and family have a long difficult road ahead for his recovery. In the meantime he is unable to work and neither is Susan as she will be his 24 hr caretaker.

Even with insurance his medical bills will be staggering along with the lose of both incomes. He also faces months, if not a year or two of rehabilitation.
I am including his press release for you to read as he is being  honored with the Star of Life award for his life saving actions for a young boy with catastrophic injuries.

It’s likely he will not be able to attend the award ceremony in DC.

ROB  NEEDS OUR HELP NOW!

Please give whatever you can, if not monetary  we ask for all the prayers you can offer.

UPDATE

Rob is still needing our help! Since the original post, Rob has been dismissed from the hospital only to be re-admitted 3 more times!! He has never had a definitive diagnosis. He has now been seen by a neurosurgeon and will have surgery on his neck in the near future. Not sure if this injury from an accident while he was riding in his ambulance and hit by another car (before moving to Texas) could be causing his episodes. Regardless, he needs this injury corrected.
He was re-admitted yesterday and Drs want to start all over with new  lab testing. If a firm diagnosis cannot be made, then his Dr told Susan he would transfer him anywhere in the US she wanted. At this time he’s getting worse not better! Please keep your thoughts and prayers with him and his family and if possible please add to the donations?
