Hi, Im Raven Rose,
Proprietress of Brown Sugar Cafe' & Books in Katy Tx. We are raising funds to bring more diverse & cultural awareness books , Art & Increase youth Literacy programs into our community & Surrounding areas of Houston TX. We believe that every person should have access to books & art that have stories that depict images of themselves inside.
The funds raised will help us to bring more Books , Art , Culture & community programs by people of color & other under represented voices to our colorful community. We want to support local authors, artisans & creatives by proving a welcoming space of inclusiveness, encouragement & opportunity right where we live.
In the very near future we want our community bookstore to be a space where Authors & Artist such as Will Smith, Tabitha Brown & Stacy Abraham's can come & share their artistic journey with our Children & Community & Show them what is possible. If We build this space, They will indeed come.
We want to share with our community access to diverse books, Arts & Programs that they wouldn't have direct access to otherwise.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between culture & community with your Love & Support I have no doubt that we will.
We will have amazing Programs for both Youth & Adults such as:
storytelling , Book Clubs, Author Book signings, after school programs, tutoring, Chess, Double Dutch clubs, Live art shows, poetry , mentorship & so much more!
