Renewing Peace and Hope in 2022

We are making a difference by providing hope for children and youth in Sierra Leone, caught in the throes of post-war, post-Ebola, flooding and now Covid19. Here is the link to our Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/bgiftedfdn/photos/?ref=page_internal

Please find the link to our Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/bgiftedfoundation/

Our campaign is still on-going so please donate and spread the word. Thanks so much!

Children all over the world love toys, but they are even more meaningful for the children living in tough conditions in developing countries. They bring joy and hope, and deliver a powerful message from the rest of the world — 'you are not alone'!

The B-Gifted Foundation designed the Teddy Bear Project in the fall of 2010 as a way to reach children in post-war and crisis-struck Sierra Leone with a symbol of unconditional love. The goal for that year was to raise 40 Teddy Bears for kids living at Amputee camps and have them delivered with community support. Though initially a modest effort, the program vastly increased in scale when the Ebola outbreak occurred, destroying families and leaving many children orphaned. There is a popular song that unequivocally puts it just in the most succinct and right way. 'We all need somebody to lean on'. However, it's not just Bill Withers who recognizes this undeniable truth in life. Bill Withers in his song 'Lean on Me' lyrically exposes our human frailty that can be pumptuated by pain and sorrow. In a moment of global crisis and epidemics in a scale and magnitude as difficult and painful as these times of Covid19 there are many of those kids in Sierra Leone needing 'someone to lean on'. Can you be a. champion and 'a friend and help them carry on'?
Bill Withers music is a clarion call to action, to do things for the weaker brethren. 'Lean on me when you are not strong and I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on'. The kids in Sierra Leone need 'champions to Lean on'. Can you be one of them? 'Lean on me when you're not strong and I will help you carry on'.

B-Gifted Foundation is launching a crowdfunding campaign that would allow our yearly initiative to bloom. We will hand out teddy bears and other toys, books, food and kids games to children who have faced a lot of socio-economic challenges, including orphaned children around various communities in Sierra Leone.

It’s our 11th year of providing hope in post-war, post-Ebola, and the challenges of Covid19 Epidemic in Sierra Leone. We continue our campaign into the New Year, and will update our donors.

The campaign is aimed at providing relief to children who endure from the consequences of three great calamities that the country suffered: the aftermath of a bloody decade-long civil war, a deadly Ebola outbreak, and a global Covid19 Epidemic.

B-Gifted Foundation, is a nonprofit organization operating in Sierra Leone successfully for the past decade. The charity runs several programs aimed at providing relief from the consequences of three great calamities that the country suffered: a bloody civil war, and a deadly Ebola outbreak.- and now the challenges posed by the global crises of Covid19.

In renewing Hope into the new year, our Show Some Love Teddy Bear Project comes close to heart as an initiative to give toys, school items, food supplies, and other fun-filled support to orphans who lost their parents and dealing with aftermath of Ebola outbreak can find joy in the fact that someone does care and that they are not alone.

Andrew at the amputee camps in Northern Sierra Leone in 2010 at the start of the Show Some Love Holiday for Hope Project.

The project is an annual event, which however leaves a lasting impression on the children it reaches. The kids hold on to their teddies and toys for as long as they can, often years, receiving joy and comfort for the entire period — just think of how fond you were of your own teddy bear, or favorite toy. It’s not an expensive initiative: even just a few Dollars can make a real impact in the lives of many of these children.

we are delighted to return to these communities to lift children up and bring light where there is darkness.

Asha Curran, CEO of GivingTuesday, recently said:

“As a global community, we can mourn this moment of extreme crisis while also finding the opportunity to support one another. We each have the power to make an impact with acts of generosity, no matter how small, and to ensure the sustainability of organisations and services that are crucial to the care and support of our communities".

We are expecting some of our generous friends to come on board too. will you be one of them? In previous years,  Dreams for Kids chicago and UK based Humaniq became our organization and company donors, with individuals and our community friends bringing back smiles and hope to kids in Sierra Leone.

The B-Gifted Foundation’s volunteers purchased and distributed the toys and school kits to children, victims of the devastating Ebola epidemic, at the Kroo Bay Community in Freetown, nation’s capital, the Bo Disability Organization in the South of the Country, The Kaningo Community, Lakka Beach Communuty and hope to expand to other parts of the country.

Any amount you give will make a life-changing impact for children who have seen and experienced so many challenges and who faced a tripartite of war, Ebola and mudslide flooding.

And our Renewing Hope initiative will have multiple times the life-saving impact for children living in poverty and post-war challenges.

At the end our primary goal revolves around enhancing  and increasing the prospect for kids in Sierra Leone to feel loved, to feel elevated and building their self-esteem so that they can make a chance on being motivated for educational attainment. In that way we promote early childhood education, and through this encouragement, Prepare to embrace the educational goals, whilst feeling cared for. We believe this gesture will have ripple effects as kids will grow to be compassionate, loving and caring, with empathy and a sense of sharing to others  as they prepare for successful lives and careers in the future.

Because if you don't hope that there's a way out, if you don't hope that your actions can make a difference, then you sink into apathy and do nothing. So hope is absolutely crucial if we're to get through this."
Myriad thanks for joining us in keeping the hope of children and young people to feel empowered, loved and thriving into 2022

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity as we continue our campaign this holiday season into the New Year 2022.

And I meant to tell you, that 'I was just like these kids and knowing I can give back that smile and pass it on one kid at a time, I was filled with joy and happiness, and the simple fact that I can help to bring that radiance and a glow, a smile and hope was at once reassuring.
With a generation of young people who have known only challenges and hardship caused by a multiplicity of factors, of war, Ebola, and recent flooding and hardship, I think that these moments of smiles and happiness will help them shed off that heavy burden of grief that they endure. In turn these children will have the nurturing experience of passing on the simple acts of kindness, love and compassion that is also exemplified and got through the warm embrace of a doll.
I hope that through those inspiring youth volunteers and our numerous friends we hope to continue to do that from Baltimore to Freetown to Bunce Island.' - Andrew Benson Greene Jr.

My dear friends,

I wanted to again thank you for your generosity in 'renewing hope' for children in Sierra Leone. You are the champions that give the children of Sierra Leone hope that in the face of all the challenges in the world, that you do care and 'they are not alone'.

Tomorrow on January the 1st 2022, B-Gifted volunteers will venture into the Kroo bay community  bringing a pleasant surprise to kids in the Kroo bay area of Freetown Sierra Leone. The Kroo bay area will be our first of five stops in the new year as we expand the outreach and giving program, bringing books, bags, soccer ball, teddies and assorted toys; and did I tell you they are also making a special Sierra Leone dish for the kids in the Kroobay area?  "Kroo Bay is an informal housing settlement located on the coastline in central Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. In 2009, it had an estimated population of 10,989 people.  Residents of Kroo Bay lack adequate access to sanitation and health services. Health care workers in Kroo Bay report a high incidence of child malnutrition, which is caused by poverty and accentuated by rising global food prices".

I sincerely hope that these gifts will be memorable and become a part of the lives of these kids, and more importantly, spread the message of love, peace and care so that the children who receive your gifts will in turn become custodians of peace, love, caring, generosity, empathy as they grow up to lead the society, heal our public health, our society, our planet, and our democracy in the future years to come.

As Dr. Jane Goodall said this year about young people: "If you lose hope, that's the end. Because if you don't hope that there's a way out, if you don't hope that your actions can make a difference, then you sink into apathy and do nothing.
