My name is Ariel Alegria and I am a an ESL AIDE and Assistant Soccer Coach at Wunsche High School and Dueitt Middle School. These last few months working for Spring ISD have been incredible and forever and experience I will cherish. I’ve learned so much about myself and about the education I am pursuing. Growing up I always wanted to be a Math Teacher and with me actually working in the field I know that I truly love what I am pursuing.
With the huge teacher shortage currently around the world I have never been more motivated to finishing . At 21 years old I am paying for 100% of my education and recently it has been put on pause because I can’t afford it. I’ve dug myself a huge of debt and I hate having to ask for help but I just want to finish my schooling.
My parents have always tried to support my dreams of finishing my school but can't afford to pay for it all the way through. Being denied by FAFSA because my house hold makes "too much" money is sad. Living almost check to check at some points and yet my parents still trying to help is the reason I am motivated to finishing. I’ve applied to multiple Scholarships and Grants and I am awaiting results on that as well.
As a Male Minority I have become so relatable to my students. It’s rare to see Hispanic teachers let alone Male Hispanics. There has always been a stigma that male Hispanics need to be doing some labor intensive job but I want to change that and show the kids that you can do whatever you want and empower the future of our country.
Finishing my education is my parents only dream rule they’ve had for my brother and I in life and also my biggest dream. I want to return to being a full time college student and finishing. This gofundme is just to help with funding my first semester back as a full time student. I can figure out how to pay for books and other expenses along the way.
