Friends! Would you help me support my best friend in her cancer journey by helping her get the beautiful wig she's set her heart on?
Many of you already know Allie has struggled with cancer since 2019. Originally diagnosed with breast cancer, she's suffered through chemo and the loss of her hair once already. When we thought it was over and she could regain her life and resume work, she began having intense, debilitating back pain. An MRI revealed that the cancer had returned in the form of metastatic bone cancer. She was forced to stop working as a respiratory therapist and has been battling since. This time, so far, she has been treated with meds, but the cancer has continued to claim more and more from her until she is now at the point of needing chemo treatments again.
Despite all this difficult news, and all the extreme pain Allie’s endured, she has never given up living as fully as possible and being a loving, supportive friend to many of us. She's been incredibly brave, facing each new challenge with a strength I’ve realized can only come from God. Facing losing her beautiful hair again is really the smallest part of what she will face in these upcoming months. I'd like to take this one worry away for her. She had just told me her hair was starting to grow longer, and she was beginning to like the length and thickness again…
This is the one part we can help with. She's met with a wig specialist to get a natural hair wig. She's told me her wig appointment went great and that they have “one wig that is long, and believe it or not cheaper than the short style wigs”. These wigs typically range in price from $1200 to $7000, so this is actually the least expensive human hair wig they have. And it happens to be her favorite! It is long and straight, so she can have it styled to frame her face, have bangs etc. But even $1200 seems impossible to afford.
Let's show her this is not impossible. Please join in helping her get the wig that will give her confidence and be one less thing she has to worry about while she goes through these treatments.
Also her birthday is coming up…October 11th! She remembers celebrating her 50th without hair and I'd love for her to celebrate her 55th with her new wig!
Let's show her some love and birthday wishes by helping her during this really vulnerable part of her treatment just as she's supported so many others. Grateful for any amount!
