Help Us Protect Petrovitsky Park in Fairwood!

Petrovitsky Park is one of South King County's last remaining natural greenbelts—a forested area that contains wetlands, serves as a regional wildlife corridor extending toward Lake Youngs, and provides a quiet space for walking, wildlife viewing, and passive recreation.

King County Parks has proposed constructing a large 27-hole disc golf course throughout this wooded greenbelt. The proposal includes approximately 60 tee pads, permanent infrastructure, and fairway clearing with associated vegetation removal adjacent to residential neighborhoods.

What began as concern from a handful of neighboring homeowners has grown into a coalition of residents, neighboring HOAs, environmental advocates, and community members who believe this proposal deserves greater public scrutiny before irreversible changes are made.

Over the past year, we've attended public meetings, reviewed hundreds of pages of project documents, submitted public records requests, communicated with elected officials, connected with neighboring communities, and worked to ensure residents have access to accurate information about the proposal. Through these efforts, we've also successfully encouraged King County to move forward with a SEPA environmental review—a critical step in evaluating the project's potential environmental impacts.

As our coalition has grown, so has the need for experienced legal guidance. We are seeking legal counsel to help us understand our rights, evaluate potential legal options, ensure environmental laws and public processes are properly followed, and advocate for the communities and natural resources that may be affected by this project.

Before donating, we encourage everyone to learn more and sign our community petition: Learn more: SavePetroPark.org

If, after reviewing the information, you believe this effort is worth supporting, we would greatly appreciate a donation toward our legal fund.

Donations will help cover:

  • An initial legal retainer with an experienced land use and environmental attorney.

  • Legal review of project documents, permits, and environmental review.

  • Guidance regarding homeowner rights, environmental protections, and the public process.

  • Potential legal action, if warranted based on counsel's recommendations.

Every contribution—large or small—helps ensure our community has access to experienced legal representation and an informed voice in decisions that will affect this public green space for generations.

If you're unable to donate, you can still make a tremendous difference by signing the petition, sharing this fundraiser, and helping spread awareness throughout our community.

Thank you for standing with us as we work to protect Petrovitsky Park and advocate for thoughtful planning, environmental stewardship, transparency, and meaningful community involvement.
