This holiday season, I’m reaching out on behalf of my family — and most especially for my granddaughter, Sophia, who means the world to me. Like every child, she deserves a safe, stable place to call home.
The home she lives in is currently in need of significant repairs. Due to serious foundation issues, the floors throughout the house have become uneven and are sinking. As the foundation shifted, it caused the existing flooring to buckle and become damaged, making it unsafe. Once the foundation is properly stabilized, all flooring throughout the entire home will need to be replaced.
In addition to the structural concerns, the home’s water system is not functioning reliably, and portions of the electrical system are not working properly, creating additional safety concerns.
Although the home was purchased using a 203(k) renovation loan, the subcontractor involved has since stated that the foundation issues fall outside of their responsibility. As a result, these critical repairs now fall entirely on the family.
After professional inspections, the estimated cost to address the foundation stabilization, complete flooring replacement, water system repairs, and necessary electrical work is approximately $60,000.
As a family, we are doing everything we can, but the scope of these repairs is more than we can manage alone. Rather than let the situation worsen, we are inviting friends, family, and community members who may be willing to help us restore a safe and livable home for Sophia.
Any contribution, whether financial or by sharing this message, is deeply appreciated. Every bit goes directly toward making this house a safe, stable home once again.
We are deeply grateful for your kindness, your support, and the spirit of generosity that defines this season.
