Hello! My name is Monica Romero, and I am asking for your support as I pursue the opportunity to represent Virginia as Miss Virginia this year. This journey means so much to me because I am committed to uplifting and empowering girls, Latinas, and communities of color across our state and nation.
As a Latina and a PhD student in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, my mission is to amplify Latina voices and increase representation in STEM. I strive to inspire young girls and students of color to see themselves in spaces where they have been historically underrepresented and to believe that they belong in science, engineering, and innovation.
Through visibility, mentorship, and advocacy, I aim to break barriers and create pathways so that the next generation of diverse leaders can pursue STEM careers with confidence and pride.
