A New Beginning for My Mother and Me
Life can change in an instant. Without warning, I recently lost my job — the job that I depended on as the only provider for my small family of two: my mother and me. Overnight, everything became uncertain. The stress of trying to keep up with bills, daily expenses, and simply making sure we’re okay has been overwhelming.
Like so many families, we’ve felt the weight of California’s rising cost of living. Finding stable work here has become incredibly difficult, and every day feels like a struggle just trying to stay afloat. I’ve spent countless hours searching, hoping, and praying for a way forward.
After a lot of difficult thinking and soul searching, I realized that the best chance I have to create a better future for my mother and me is to make a fresh start in Alabama. I’ve been given an opportunity that I never thought I’d find during such a hard time — a job waiting for me there and a real chance to rebuild our lives.
This move isn’t about giving up. It’s about fighting for a better future. It’s about creating stability, peace, and the opportunity to provide the life my mother deserves and to continue living healthier, happier lives. But starting over in a new state comes with costs that are difficult to manage while already facing financial hardship.
Asking for help has never been easy for me. I’ve always tried to carry the weight on my own. But right now, I’m humbly asking for support to help us get to Alabama and begin this new chapter. Any donation, no matter how small, helps bring us one step closer to a fresh start and a chance to rebuild.
