In April of this year, my aunt made the very hard and heartbreaking decision to leave the United States and return with her child to her home country of Venezuela due to fear of being separated from her younger daughter and also because her mother and father are older and their health is declining. Her daughter was also being severely bullied in the schools here in Texas because she has autism and kids would make fun of how she acted mentally younger than what she was. By doing this, she left behind all of her family here in the United States that loves her deeply, including her oldest daughter who has made a life here with her partner of many years. She does know I’m making this account for her and knows it’s a long shot but it does not hurt to try is what I told her.

When she arrived back to Venezuela, she had little money and only some clothes in their bags. She worked every day from 3 a.m. until 7-8 p.m. just to try and stay in good standing with bills here in Texas. Even though she worked very hard and sacrificed time with her family, she had very little, and what she did have here, she had to leave it all behind. She had no home to go back to and has been trying very hard to get back on her feet for herself and her family.

No one should ever have to live in fear of being separated from their children, and she was living this terrible reality that many in the United States are facing today more now than ever before. She is working to support herself, her youngest daughter, and her elderly mother and father, but as everyone knows, Venezuela is one of many countries that have a big poverty problem. No matter how hard someone works, it’s impossible to stay afloat.

Whatever is donated will go to helping her and her family with medical and household expenses just to get back to where she is not having to stress every single day and night about the necessities of life. We have all been there before, working and doing everything possible to try and not go under, and knowing if you had just a little help, it would have changed everything for you.

I don’t want her sacrifice of leaving her family that very much loves and misses her here to be for nothing. She is someone who would drop everything to help a complete stranger, even if it took away from her. I could call her for any and everything, and she would be here for me and my children within seconds.

This woman is the most genuine, big-hearted person I have ever met. She opened her home to me and my son, who are of no blood relation to her. It’s not easy to turn your entire world upside down and leave the home you have worked so hard for to go where you have nothing. Anything will help, and everything is greatly appreciated.
