My name is Nicole and I’m leaving my husband with $0 to my name.
I’ve been with my husband for 5 years (married 3). Through our marriage, I have become completely dependent on him financially. He isn’t a terrible man, we’ve just changed as people and it’s become detrimental to my health. He is unaware I’m leaving him so as essential as it is to share my post, I do require discretion too. I’m afraid if he finds out before I’m able to take the necessary steps to move forward with my life, I will be homeless.
Our story was beautiful. He made me feel valued and cared for in ways that I never experienced before. He offered me patience and grace in times of grief and pain. Our communication was so mature and productive.
Like all couples, we found ourselves on hard times that brought us to his hometown and this is when things became emotionally manipulative and verbally abusive. I’ve realized I’ve sacrificed so much of myself for this marriage and it’s been detrimental. To put things plainly, I was forced to quit a job I loved and have endured mocking, belittlement, gaslighting and shame spiraling, and emotional manipulation.
I’m completely dependent on him financially and leaving him will be incredibly difficult and scary. I’m truly going to be starting from zero.
I’ve chosen $10k to ensure I will be able to afford housing while I build my new life alone and also help me get through a couple semesters at WSCO in Marietta as an automotive technician (which he has been funding).
I have built a beautiful life here with a great support system but I still need help. I hope my story is worthy of your donation and any amount you can spare would be so incredibly appreciated. I need to find my independence again and grow into the person I know I can be.
