Hi, my name is Catie Sickler, and I’m 25 years old living with a challenging medical condition: psychologically induced epileptic seizures, caused by PTSD and brain trauma. These seizures come without warning, often causing me to lose consciousness and suffer painful injuries, including concussions.
After countless medical appointments and consultations with my seizure clinic, my doctors and I believe a service dog could significantly improve my quality of life. A service dog can be trained to detect warning signs of seizures, help keep me safe during an episode, and provide comfort and support during recovery.
I’ve found the perfect candidate—a German Shepherd puppy with the right temperament and intelligence to be trained as my service dog. However, I need to purchase him by the end of January, and I’m struggling to afford the upfront costs.
In addition to buying the puppy, there are other essential expenses:
- Veterinary care
- Food and supplies
- Training to help him become the service dog I need
This is where I humbly ask for your help. Your donation, no matter how small, will bring me closer to having a companion who can help me live a safer, fuller life. This puppy isn’t just a pet—he’s a lifeline and a source of hope.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you’re unable to donate, sharing my Spotfund with others would mean the world to me. Together, we can make this life-changing goal a reality.
With gratitude,
Catie
