Hello, my name is Jackie Dohlman, and I'm reaching out to you on behalf of my dear friend, Sarah. In November, Sarah was diagnosed with a large mass (11.6 cm) on her right kidney. This mass could potentially be renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) or a benign angiomyolipoma (a non-cancerous mass).
At the time of her diagnosis, Sarah did not have health insurance and had to pay for a series of imaging tests, blood tests, and numerous clinic and ER visits all out of pocket. Thankfully, she has now established insurance, but unfortunately, her coverage is poor, and she continues to accrue a large amount of medical debt.
The mass is growing and causing Sarah significant symptoms. Recently, she met with a urologist at Mercy Des Moines and underwent an embolization procedure to stop the bleeding before they could perform a biopsy. She spent Christmas in the hospital, surrounded by family, but is hopeful to return home soon. The results of her biopsy are still pending.
Sarah is one of the sweetest, selfless, and most caring people I know. Due to her health challenges, she has been unable to work for the past month, leading to a loss of income. Meanwhile, her husband, Brian, has needed to focus on caring for both Sarah and their children. This has impacted his ability to work as well.
Sarah and her family are in urgent need of support during this difficult time. We are aiming to raise funds to help cover medical expenses and provide some financial relief for their family. No amount is too small, and every contribution will make a difference in their lives.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Your love, support, and generosity for Sarah and her family mean the world to us. Please share this campaign with your network to help spread the word.
