As many of you know, Elaina battles with severe Crohn's Disease, and has experienced many complications over the past five years. On December 13, 2022, Elaina underwent her 4th major surgery to address a stricture in her small intestine and remove a fistula (complication from previous operation).
During the surgery, Elaina's surgeon found two strictures, instead of just one. They performed two strictureplasties, along with a take down of the fistula. Surgery was successful and Elaina was able to go home less than a week after surgery to continue her recovery.
This has been the smoothest operation Elaina has been through so far.
Since her surgery, Elaina has not been able to work. Elaina's colleagues have been gracious enough to donate paid time off, but unfortunately it was not enough to receive a full paycheck. On top of Elaina's normal monthly expenses, she will have new medical bills, as a result of post-op and followup care. Since we just entered a new year, deductibles have reset which requires Elaina to pay out of pocket expenses for medical care.
If you know Elaina personally, you would know that she would do anything for anyone. Elaina cares deeply for her friends and family and makes sure they take care of themselves. As Elaina has helped many people learn how to practice self-care, this is our chance to give back.
Elaina does not like asking for help, but as we all know, financial stress can be detrimental to the healing process.
All money donated will go towards helping Elaina stay on top of her monthly expenses (ex. gas, groceries, medical expenses) so she can continue to recover while she starts getting back to her normal routine.
