It is with an incredibly broken heart that I am even writing this, and that was after my aunt asked me to. My amazing uncle John with the heart of Gold and purest soul is preparing to go to his heavenly home. Uncle John has left a legacy of spreading Christ's Love and walking in his light. My uncle John didn't have the easiest start in life. Uncle John has Asperger's and for a long time those who didn't understand him would bully, ridicule, or make fun of him and even after they would treat him that way he would still tell them ,"God loves you and all you need to do is keep Jesus in your heart". Uncle John has been a pillar of our community touching so many lives. Uncle John is "the man who decorates the house" as he says and he sure did. My uncle John didn't come from money nor have a lot of it. He worked hard all his life even with his different ability. As he got older he had to finally apply for disability which he received. My uncle lived on a strict budget but even so he took his own money, time, and energy to strategically plan out his house decorations and placement of every aspect to them. Not only did he selflessly organize and pay for his seasonal house decorations but he also used his own money, time, and effort to organize, setup, and carry out important cookouts, family get togethers, and even super bowl parties. He never let anyone stay sad or depressed around him and if he saw you sad or upset he would ask what is troubling you, how long it's been going on, can he pray for you, and follow that up with what God told him about your trials. My wonderful uncle was not just my uncle but he became the city of New Albany's uncle as well. I know what God's love looks like because I witnessed it constantly from my uncle's actions, prayers, and deeds for others. My Uncle John was diagnosed with stage 4 Colon Cancer less than 2 weeks ago and everything has just progressed at super sonic speed since then. My uncle John had surgery this past Tuesday and we found out then that the Cancer had spread to his liver, and lungs. Today we found out uncle John has a blood clot in his lungs and 10% liver function. Hospice was called in and through a soft conversation with uncle John he was given what it looks like based on his symptoms. He's too weak to start Chemo and since he has Cancer in his liver he's ineligible for a liver transplant. Uncle John prayed earlier in tongues and has been talking to his parents off and on all day. It made him pretty upset at first but uncle John sees this as his Heavenly promotion now. He's ready to go decorate God's mansions for each of us. This diagnosis came out of left field and so none of us are prepared for this. Uncle John spent so much of his own money on his home decorations and community needs that he never concerned himself with Life Insurance or final expenses, always thinking of others before himself. We have read and cried several times over the past few days from all the outpouring of love, memories, and impacts uncle John has left in the hearts of his own family and his hometown community he's come to call family as well. If my uncle John has ever made a difference in your life, your day, or your situation and you would like to help us give him the BEST heavenly graduation and homegoing please give back. Uncle John was ALWAYS there for all of us now let's be here for him!!!!
