Daniel is 32 years old and lives in Guayaquil, Ecuador. As an 11 year old he came to the US and to our home through Healing the Children in the hopes of correcting his bilateral displaced hips. Unfortunately, that was impossible since he was still growing.
In 2020, both of Daniel's parents died of Covid. He had been living and working with his dad; since then, he's been driving a rented car/taxi to make a living. But it has become too painful to drive much. After 30 years of hobbling around with basically no hip joints (what there was of them has about worn away) he is in extreme pain when he moves around.
The La Vida Clinic, a Christian mission clinic about 40 miles away, is looking into arranging for this very complex surgery. They are a nonprofit clinic but there are expenses that Daniel needs to cover. He is scheduled to be seen there on July 17, for which he needs to bring $200 plus $30 for the specialist's fee. If they do decide to operate, he will need about $200 to buy the equipment he needs (walker, raised toilet seat, positioning equipment). There may also be a few other things.
Meanwhile, I have been helping him a little financially to get by until, by the grace of God, he is able to get back on his feet. The amount he needs to get an exam and potentially, a bilateral hip replacement, is not that great, but more than I can come up with in a month.
I'm hoping for donations to cover the above expenses. If there is any left over, it will go to pay on his car (another whole story but a few friends and I are in the process of buying the car he was renting to maximize his income). This has been fortuitous because it has made it possible for him to be seen at La Vida.
But the main focus now is to get him pain free and back and able to walk again. I'm praying that he will be blessed with what he needs now so he can go on to lead a healthy and productive life.
