November 2025 Update
Dear donors!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by your family and friends.
In the days after Thanksgiving week, we are filled with gratitude for our incredible donors. Your generosity empowers our work. Because of you, we are able to sustain our mission and keep supporting victims of torture and mistreatment as they are released from imprisonment in Russia and the occupied territory.
Please see the latest expense report below.
A total of 82,484 UAH (approximately $1956) was spent during November.
Of this amount, 3,290 UAH went to two men for dental treatment (20,000 and 17,290 respectively) and 45,194 UAH to two women and five men – victims of torture and ill-treatment – for medical examinations and specialist consultations.
I would also like to share with you a statement issued by the “December 1st” Initiative Group, a non-governmental association of Ukrainian intellectuals, including scientists, human rights activists, and cultural figures, of which my brother is a member. The statement was issued in response to the US’s 28-point peace plan for Ukraine, and sharply criticizes it. In conclusion, they wrote: “We are not the only ones who feel today that the world is approaching a new moment of truth, when nations will again have to make a fundamental choice between good and evil. Therefore, let us repeat today with faith and hope: God bless America! Glory to Ukraine and its Heroes! God bless this confused and disoriented world!”
We thank you, as always, for your generous and continued support. If you are in a position to donate again in the future, we would be incredibly grateful for the renewed support.
Please help us keep the momentum going by sharing the details of this fundraiser with others!

October 2025 Update
Dear donors!
From September 15 to October 31, a total of 72,195 UAH (approximately $1721) was spent. Please see the details below.
I would also like to share with you an interview with a Kharkiv resident, Natalka Marinchak, who has stayed and worked in the city since the beginning of this war. To the question “What keeps you in a front-line city?”, Natalka responded: “Land. The land of my ancestors keeps me here. What keeps me going is what, in fact, I talk about in my poetry: if we depart from here, then who will keep this city?” For a complete text of the interview, please refer to this link.
Despite the immense challenges and constant threat, a deep-seated determination to remain in their city and resist the aggression drives the survival spirit of Kharkiv's residents. The residents must endure continuous bombings, but there is strong community support and a determination to maintain the city's cultural life.
We thank you, as always, for your generous and continued support, as well as the trust you have placed in us and our mission, and we hope you will consider donating again. Please continue to spread the word about this fundraiser.

August 2025 Update
Dear donors!
Please see the latest update from Aug 13 through Sep 14. The total spent during this period was 130,973 UAH (approximately $3,181).
The majority of funds, as always, went to cover medical and dental care for victims of torture.
There were additional non-standard payments:
And finally, a large sum of 51,165 UAH was spent to repair, paint, and move a Volkswagen minibus from Germany to Poland (Gliwice), then to the Lviv region, and later to the Kharkiv region and delivered to the military unit of the National Guard "Kara-Dag". Details follow:
My nephew, Boris Zakharov, initiated this project and participated in the car delivery. Please refer to his FB post for more information and pictures. Ukrainian military and National Guard units utilize cars, primarily modified civilian pickup trucks or minivans known as "technicals," to enhance battlefield mobility, transport supplies, and provide flexible, rapid-fire support. These vehicles are typically sourced from crowdfunding campaigns and volunteers. Thanks to your generosity, our fund has participated in a few such purchases in the past.
In conclusion, on behalf of the Ukrainian people, we extend a heartfelt thank you for your overwhelming generosity and continued support. Your commitment to standing with us during this difficult time has brought immense hope to those who need it most. Please continue to support our cause and share this fundraiser with others.

July 2025 Update
Dear donors!
Please see the latest update from July 13 through Aug 12. The total expenses for the last month were 51,430 UAH (approximately $1,238). Once again, the entire sum was used to cover the dental and medical expenses of people released from Russian detention.
Among them, two men whose teeth were knocked out during torture received 20,000 UAH each for dental prostheses, which covers half the cost.
Another five people (three men and two women) received 11,430 UAH each for medical examinations and consultations with doctors.
In conclusion, we would like to express our gratitude for your continued support. Through your generosity, the victims of torture not only received medical care but also the reassurance that they are not forgotten. Please continue to support our cause and share this fundraiser with others.

June 2025 Update
Dear donors!
From June 11 to July 12, the total spent was 85,020 UAH (approximately $2033)
A few words about this man: from the first days of the war, despite heavy bombardment, he delivered food, water, and medicine to older people who lived on the upper floors of high-rises. He often fulfilled specific requests from relatives who lived far away or abroad. Additionally, he worked constantly at the KHPG, engaging in various humanitarian aid activities. He had been sick for a long time with thrombocytopenia, gradually becoming progressively more ill, but didn’t stop his work until his legs could no longer carry him.
His family’s story is tragic, but all too typical for the Ukrainians whose lives have been wrecked by this terrible war. His disconsolate mother was left alone with her 14-year-old granddaughter, whose mother was killed by the Russians during the occupation. Her second daughter also died during the occupation, as there was no medical help available to her. He has two children from his first marriage, aged 16 and 13, who are currently safe in Germany but away from their homeland.
In conclusion, I would like to thank our sponsors, especially those who have donated consistently to our cause. Thank you for your generous and continued support, as well as the trust you have placed in us and our mission. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to carry it out. We hope you will consider donating again. Please continue to spread the word about this fundraiser.
