Hi, my name is Sasha Savransky. I have been a proud American citizen for over 30 years, but I was born and raised in Kharkiv, Ukraine. I know personally many people in Ukraine who are either displaced or remain in the cities severely bombarded by the Russian aggressors.

PLEASE DONATE TO HELP THEM!

My brother, Yevhen Zakharov, and his son, Boris, are currently in Ukraine, providing humanitarian assistance to people needing food, shelter, medicine, and money. Yevhen is the founder of one of the oldest and most prominent Ukrainian human rights organizations, the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group.

Boris is a director of the Charitable Foundation “Human and Law.” He also leads the Advocacy Center at the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union.

My brother and his son teamed up with volunteers in the USA, Israel, Poland, and Germany to purchase and deliver humanitarian aid to Ukraine and evacuate the most vulnerable groups from the hottest zones of the conflict. In addition, they provide targeted assistance to families of internally displaced persons and refugees, families of fallen and wounded soldiers, and other families who found themselves in difficult life circumstances as a result of the war.

THIS MISSION WILL SAVE LIVES!

Donated money will also be used to purchase and outfit ambulances to bring wounded soldiers and civilians into hospitals.

I will accumulate the donations in a separate account in my name at Chase Manhattan Bank and wire the money to the two charities based in Germany and Ukraine. I will provide full transparency on future donation usage.

WHY DONATE HERE? Your money will be used in Ukraine by the Ukrainians and help them win the war! This is the most direct way to help with immediate impact and with not one penny of your donation spent to run the charity.

May 2026 Update

Dear donors!

The total expenses for the last month were 71,778 UAH (approximately $1619). Of this amount, 51,180 UAH was spent on dental care for three men following their release from Russian captivity. 10,360 UAH was spent on medical examinations for another four torture victims (two men and two women).

An allocation of 10,238 UAH provided emergency aid to a civilian from Vovchansk who was freed after a month-and-a-half captivity by Russian soldiers. When the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group (KHPG) stepped in to offer legal and psychological support during the victim interviews, they found him completely destitute—left without clothing, food, housing, or medical funds, and entirely cut off from his family abroad. To stabilize him during the four days of legal proceedings, KHPG, using your generous donations, funded a hotel stay (4,000 UAH), a mobile phone (1,599 UAH), vital clothing and footwear (2,740 UAH), food (299 UAH), and a temporary living allowance (1,600 UAH). He has since been hospitalized to receive necessary medical care.

Additionally, I would like to highlight my brother’s ongoing humanitarian work in searching for missing persons, locating them, and assisting their families. From May 24 to May 30, he participated in a joint monitoring mission, traveling from Kharkiv to the Mykolaiv region alongside three exiled Russian dissidents. During the mission, they met with numerous victims and families of prisoners of war, including a visit to a settlement representing 21 families of the missing. The profound anguish these families endure while waiting for news of their loved ones commands our deepest compassion and solidarity.

And finally, here is a link to an article about the project “Restoring human rights for Ukrainian victims of Russian war-related crimes”, funded by the Swedish Institute (SI) and implemented by the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group.

We thank you, as always, for your ongoing support, generosity, and dedication. We hope you’ll consider supporting us again and sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family to help grow our impact.

April 2026 Update

Dear donors!

The total expenses for the last month were 67,620 UAH (approximately $1542). Of this amount: 29,120 UAH went toward medical examinations and consultations for six torture victims (three men and three women);

16,000 UAH was paid to restore a charging station for a patient whose life depends on a continuous power source for her oxygen supply. This repair was funded by a generous $400 gift intended for a generator. However, charging stations offer significant advantages over traditional generators: they are silent, pollution-free, and suitable for indoor living spaces. Highly portable and solar-compatible, these units are essential tools for both civilians in apartments and personnel in the Ukrainian military.

We allocated 22,500 UAH to purchase a laptop for Yuriy Shapovalov, a neurologist and former political prisoner who was recently released in an August 14, 2025 exchange. Dr. Shapovalov was sentenced to 13 years for 'espionage'—in reality, for expressing pro-Ukrainian views on Twitter. Despite serving nearly eight years of a 13-year sentence, his spirit remains unbroken. Now living in Kharkiv, he is working to refresh his medical credentials; this laptop is an essential tool for his professional studies and his return to medicine. You can read his story through this link https://khpg.org/en/1608815371

In closing, we want to share our deepest thanks for your ongoing support. Standing with Ukraine means more now than ever. We hope you’ll consider supporting us again and sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family to help grow our impact.

March 2026 Update

Dear donors!

My apologies for the delayed delivery of this update. The KHPG staff has been working to compile and publish a report dedicated to their efforts from the beginning of the war in 2022 through the end of 2025. I want to share this report, "Experience of the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group", with you in this update.

Beyond the official project descriptions and director’s overview, this report captures the lived experiences of the KHPG team. It features firsthand accounts from staff members who have spent over four years providing aid in a war zone. Despite the personal toll of the conflict, they have continued their vital work without pause. This book serves as a powerful record of their reflections and dedication during a time of crisis.

Although substantial in size, I think the book will be interesting to a wide range of readers, especially those who are following the war in Ukraine. In addition to the project's reports and personal reflections, the book contains several key articles that illustrate the war’s profound impact on human rights efforts and place human rights defenders' work in a legal and historical context.

Now onto the update. The total expenses for the last month were 27,415 UAH (approximately $621). Once again, the entire sum was used to cover examinations and consultations with medical specialists for six torture victims: two women and four men.

In conclusion, we would like to express our gratitude for your continued support. Thanks to your generosity, survivors of torture were granted vital medical assistance and the profound reassurance that their plight is recognized. The report mentioned above provides detailed information about the work on behalf of such people. Please continue to support our cause and share this fundraiser with others.

February 2026 Update:

Dear donors!

The total spent in February was 67,490 UAH (approximately $1,558).

Of this sum, 37,490 UAH was spent to assist victims released from the Russian captivity. 20,000 went towards dental care, and the remaining 17,490 went towards examinations and specialist consultations for torture victims—four men and one woman.

The remaining 30,000 hryvnias were spent on purchasing 10 remote control panels for robots, as part of the Facebook fundraiser conducted by the NRK "Triglav" company of the 110th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade.

This is what they write:

“How much is your life worth?

I bet your answer will be something like:

— My life is priceless.

The life of our soldiers is also priceless. But still, saving it comes at a price.

Our boys and girls work in the Zaporizhzhia direction.

In just a few months of active existence, our unit:

* delivered over 52 tons of cargo to the front line;

* evacuated 37 wounded soldiers and 7 fallen comrades;

* In total, we cover over 3,000 km.

The constant, effective, and systematic work of our unit requires various forms of support, both material and financial.

It is extremely difficult for our military to cover these costs on its own.

Currently, we need help with the purchase of 10 control panels of the type:

RadioMaster TX12 MK II (CC2500) EdgeTX ELRS FCC

Please help us help our people on the front line.

GOAL: 65,000 UAH

Your donation today means lives saved tomorrow. This is the quiet hum of a ground drone engine, which, for a guy in a trench, becomes the most important signal: you are not alone. They remember you. They will break through to you. They will definitely take you out.”

Dear donors, your donation has closed the collection, and I would like to pass along the recipients' deepest gratitude.

“THE COLLECTION IS CLOSED! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO JOINED. WE ARE WAITING FOR THE CONTROL PANEL AND PROGRESSING FULLY, WITHOUT FAIL. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR SUPPORTING OUR WORK, FRIENDS!"

Thank you, as always, for your amazing and continued support. Please consider donating again and share this link with friends and family to spread the word and amplify our impact.

January 2026 Update:

Dear donors!

We begin this update by highlighting our key accomplishments from the last year. As we reflect on 2025, we are deeply grateful for your generosity. Last year, you raised a remarkable $22,839, which directly funded life-changing medical and dental care for 93 survivors of Russian detention and torture. Beyond this critical recovery support, your contributions reached the front lines, providing Ukrainian soldiers with essential supplies, including repairs and gasoline for evacuation vehicles, anti-drone nets, and heating pads.

On behalf of those you’ve helped, thank you for standing with us. Your support means everything!

And now onto the last month's report. The total spent in January was 88,107 UAH (approximately $2057).

A total of 45,900 UAH was spent on dentistry. Of this sum, two payments of 20,000 UAH each went for dental prosthetics, and a third of 5,900 UAH for preparation work for prosthetics.

The remaining 42,207 UAH was spent on medical examinations and consultations with specialist doctors for eight victims of torture, including 4 men and 4 women.

In conclusion, I want to share an article about the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group project, in partnership with the Swedish organization Eastern Group for Democracy and Human Rights, which assists Ukrainians who have suffered from crimes committed during Russian aggression.

Thank you for being such a vital part of this journey. Your support has already changed lives, and we hope you’ll continue to stand with us. Please consider donating again and share this link with friends and family to spread the word and amplify our impact.
