Each year, I lace up my running shoes and take part in this race in Rochester, lovingly keeping the memory of my mother alive. She was a survivor in every sense of the word, facing cancer and domestic abuse with a strength I can only aspire to. Her lessons were simple yet profound: lead with your heart, pay it forward, and always share what you have, no matter how small it may seem. These are the values I've passed on to my son, hoping to teach him the same resilience and compassion she instilled in me.
This year marks my 12th time participating. Running this race is a deeply personal tribute to her bravery and the boundless love she gave. It’s not just about remembering her struggles, but celebrating her spirit and the way she touched everyone she met. Keeping her legacy alive motivates me, and it's a path I've proudly set for myself and my son.
