I have had quite the journey and it was only by the grace of God that I was able to finally finish my BA in the midst of COVID. That being said, while I was on campus over a decade ago I was pressured into taking a $5,800 loan. For various reasons I had stopped making regular payments after I got the loan down to a little above $4,000. I had to go into forbearance multiple times and because of this the loan went up to above $8,000. Again by the grace of God it has been dropped to under $7,000.
What made this journey even more unbelievable is that in starting 2018 or 2019 I suffered from a major mental health crisis. I was still not all there when I finished my last class during COVID. During this time I was diagnosed with Schizo-affective disorder as well as being diagnosed as being on the Autism spectrum. Because of the state I was in when my family helped me apply I was granted disability. I have tried to return to the workforce in recent years but have so far been unsuccessful. Lifting the burden of this loan would make my fixed income situation more bearable and alleviate some of the concern in regards to my joblessness. I don't even need the full amount as any amount would be a blessing.
