Hello, I'm Molli, and I want to share my story with you. I was born on August 4th, 2002, in Uganda. My journey to Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya began on August 1st, and I arrived here on September 24th, all thanks to the Red Cross. My life's path has been marked by persecution, the threat of death from my own family and community back in Uganda, and my identity as a transgender individual.
I had hoped that reaching Kakuma would bring me safety and a chance to rebuild my life. Unfortunately, the reality has been far from what I had imagined. Instead of safety, I found more suffering, persecution, and discrimination, solely because of my gender identity.
Here in Kakuma, my living conditions are beyond difficult. I, along with many others, sleep on the ground due to the lack of proper shelter. Our makeshift homes are nothing more than flammable structures, endangering us every day.
Accessing medical facilities is yet another challenge I face. Discrimination and prejudice against transgender individuals make it nearly impossible for me to receive the medical care I so desperately need.
I've endured unimaginable hardships—being undressed, stoned, and even physically harmed. But I remain resilient and hopeful.
With your support, through any donation you can provide, I believe there's a chance for a better life. Your kindness and generosity can help me secure basic necessities. Your support will not only change my life but also serve as a beacon of hope for others facing similar struggles in this camp.
Thank you from the depths of my heart for your compassion and for making a difference in my life and the lives of those like me.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Molli
