On August 27th, a 13-year-old decided to steal his parents minivan and go for a little joyride. I can tell you that the end result wasn’t joyous for anybody😩. He pulled out into oncoming traffic; I literally had no time to swerve or try to avoid the collision. My two children, who are 8 and 6, were also in the vehicle. Luckily, both of my children were strapped in their car seats properly so they are not injured. My airbags didn’t deploy, so I got banked around pretty ferociously. I will be OK but I am pretty bruised up.
I am a single mother who uses her car to maintain a paycheck, mostly through Amazon Flex and the delivery services that are local to my area. Like a lot of individuals, I live week to week, paycheck to paycheck. Sometimes, I even live day to day financially.
The bad news is that I can only afford to maintain liability on my car, so my insurance won’t be of any help. The good news is that the other car does have insurance, thankfully, but the lapse between now and when everything is finally settled could be several days, or even weeks. And it’s not an exaggeration to say that not being able to work for any length of time could ultimately end up wreaking havoc on my household financially. Even when everything is settled, my car is probably only worth a couple thousand dollars on a good day, so I definitely won’t be able to buy a car outright. The addition of a car payment to my already tight financial situation is going to take some getting used to (I paid my car off in 2021 so I did not have a car payment.)
If you are in a position to do so, and find my story to be worthy of a contribution, it would be greatly appreciated. If not, we also accept well wishes, prayers, and positive energy.
I also have Cash-app and Venmo; it is $singlemom557 on both platforms if you’d like to donate in that way. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this❤️
My boys and I thank you in advance.
