Hi, my name is Skyler, and I’m raising money to help my husband restore something that means more to him than words can explain — his grandpa’s 1977 Ford F-100.
My husband lost his grandpa when he was young, but one piece of him never left the family. That truck stayed with them for years, carrying memories, stories, and a connection to a man who helped shape who my husband is today. A few years ago, my husband finally became the caretaker of the truck, and since then he’s done everything he could to keep it going — fixing things little by little, whenever time and money allowed.
If you know my husband, you know how selfless he is. He always puts his family first. No matter what happens, he makes sure our kids and I have what we need, even if it means he goes without.
A perfect example of this: we worked hard and paid off his Ford Fusion early. Just a few months later, it was totaled when a big truck ran a stop sign and hit him. Thankfully, he survived — though he did suffer a bulging disc. Instead of replacing his own car, he made sure I had a bigger, safer “mom car” for the kids and took my 2016 Cruze instead.
Less than a year later, after we worked so hard to pay that car off early too, it was totaled by a drunk driver while he was driving it. Once again, by the grace of God, he walked away physically okay. But once again, he was left without something of his own.He did settle for a car that was in our budget at the time but it has had serval things wrong with it such as the whole engine needing to be replaced not even a year after buying it.
Through all of this, he never complained. He never asked for anything. He just kept going.
This truck, though — this is different. This is his grandpa’s legacy.
The F-100 still carries his grandpa’s riding logo — a snake — embroidered into the seats. We’ve even had custom emblems made with that same symbol, so every detail honors where it came from. Restoring an old truck like this is expensive, but it’s worth every bit to preserve the memories tied to it.
My goal is to raise enough money to finally let my husband focus on restoring and rebuilding this truck the way his grandpa would have loved. To give him something that’s his, something meaningful, something that carries family history forward for our kids to see and remember.
If you’re able to help — whether by donating or sharing — you’re helping us keep a legacy alive and preserve memories one mile at a time.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, supporting, and believing in this journey ❤️
