My name is LaToyoa, and I am the proud owner and operator of Family First Home & Healthcare Services—an agency committed to delivering compassionate and reliable home care across various communities in Georgia. Through my work, I have the honor of meeting many of our cherished seniors—our golden elders—who are in need of home care services. Sadly, I often encounter those who find themselves in a difficult position: they earn just enough to not qualify for Medicaid, yet not enough to afford the private care they truly deserve.

At Family First, we believe no one should have to navigate aging or health challenges alone due to financial barriers. We are passionate about bridging this gap and advocating for resources that allow all seniors to age with dignity, safety, and the support they need.

To help assist in this problematic issue, I created the Family First Senior Care Fund.

Our solution, provide sliding-scale and scholarship-based home care services tailored to each senior's specific needs and financial circumstances.

The Family First Senior Care Fund address the critical gap in accessible home care services for vulnerable senior citizens throughout the Atlanta area. This fund aims to provide essential non-medical home care services to seniors who cannot afford private care but do not qualify for comprehensive government assistance. Our program enables seniors to maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life while remaining safely in their own home.

Thousands of seniors face a devastating choice: compromise their safety and well-being by remaining alone at home without assistance or surrendering their independence by entering institutional care prematurely. The Atlanta region's rapid aging population has created an unprecedented demand for senior services that far exceeds available resources.

The average home care costs in Atlanta $28-40hr exceed the budgets of roughly 67% of the area seniors. Estimated 34% of Atlanta-area seniors live alone, compared to the estimated national average of 28%. Georgia also ranks in the 40th percentile nationally in state funding for senior services. It is estimated that 58% of seniors requiring home care assistance cannot afford private services in the Atlanta market. Transportation barriers significantly impact seniors in suburban counties like Gwinnett, Cobb and Cherokee. Additionally, the sprawling suburban nature of metro Atlanta creates transportation challenges that isolate seniors from essential services and social connections.

We aim to offer direct care services:

-Subsidized care hours for qualifying seniors

-Personal care assistance (bathing, grooming, medication reminders)

-Companionship and social interaction

-Transportation assistance and medical appointment support

-Safety monitoring and fall prevention support

-Nutrition support and meal prep/assistance

-Respite care services

-Assessment and care planning

Thank you for being a part of this journey with us. Together, we can shine a light on this critical need and help bring care to the hearts and homes of those who need it most.

A cause worth donating. Help assist our Golden Elders, the senior community.

Ways to donate: Monetary, In-kind donations, Volunteer, Partnerships

Due to the recent Medicaid budget cuts, some nursing home residents are at risk for displacement. Several Georgia nursing homes will be impacted and therefore risk closure. Over 30 facilities in Georgia are flagged as vulnerable. These budget cuts and facility closures would significantly impact seniors in the community. Over 65% of nursing home residents rely on Medicaid coverage. Many would ask where these individuals are supposed to go if the facility closes; Well back into the community they go. There is already a senior crisis when it comes to care in Georgia. These closures and budget cuts will only deepen the care crisis, leading to consequential distress. Your support and donations are greatly appreciated and needed to help a senior currently in need or who may become in need. Our Seniors all deserve to age with dignity, grace and peace. You can help. Help provide care where it's needed most. Help a senior receive care services in the comfort of their own home. Please Share with your loved ones. Every dollar counts.

Thank you for your support
