I'm Kyla Ravenell, and I'm so excited to be competing for Miss Manhattan Org!
As a nurse, I've seen how much of a difference it can make when the right person has the right knowledge at the right time. It's one of the reasons I created my community service initiative, Impact Next Door.
The idea behind Impact Next Door is pretty simple: you shouldn't have to look far to find ways to make a difference in your own community. I want to help connect people with free and accessible resources that teach lifesaving skills like CPR, how to use an AED, what to do when someone is choking, how to administer Narcan, and how to respond to a severe allergic reaction.
A lot of these resources already exist. My goal isn't to reinvent them, but to make more people aware of what's available and encourage them to feel prepared enough to step in when someone around them needs help.
That's also why this fundraiser feels so connected to what I care about. Through Miss America, I'm raising money to support the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women and the Miss America's Scholarship Foundation. The funds we raise will help support heart health and research while also providing educational scholarships for women.

That's what Impact Next Door means to me. You don't have to change the whole world to make an impact. Sometimes you can start with the person right next door.

Miss America and Miss America's Teen National Scholarships are awarded by a separate non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the Miss America's Scholarship Foundation Inc. This collaboration provides funds for national awards, and in addition, both Miss America's/Miss America's Teen State Scholarships and the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement. The American Heart Association's Go Red for Women is Miss America's Scholarship Foundation's national health thought leader. All above mentioned entities are 501(c)(3) organizations and all donations to this campaign are fully tax-deductible per IRS regulations.
