Christian says he wants to go “home”. He means Mississippi where all his family is. We haven’t traveled home In two years. Traveling far In our mini van has become nearly impossible. A family of 5 with two teenagers in wheelchairs is not enough space. Mom can’t go it alone because Christian is a two person lift in and out of his chair. He also requires lots of “ stuff” wherever he goes. Large luxury vans are way out of budget. We have found a very affordable used vehicle to have the space we need for a long trip. “Home” is 900 miles one way.
Long trips “home” is not the only option for the travel bus. Day trips from home have been impossible for the past two years since mama can no longer lift him from his chair for diaper changes. The plan is the have a lift inside the bus for changing inside the bus. As of now, we don’t travel far because we have to come home for potty changes. It could be like our day camper on wheels.
