Hi everyone, I am in a pickle. Last summer, between having a job that was more stop and wait than go, having promising interviews that didn't pan out (one of them was down to two others and myself vying for the position and spoiler alert... I was not selected), a job that seemed to be finally getting me somewhere after I finished my 5 days of training only to have it come to an end after two weeks with a promise that if a position reopens they would call and give me a stellar reference for being a quick learner, coming in to my shifts early, and being great with customers, before finally getting a job that had a two-week start delay.
That was my life for 3 months!! June, July, and August, before finally working consistently. I got behind on everything. I had some amazing people, friends, and family who really helped me during that god-awful time. It took a while to get out of that hole, get caught up, and pay off debts.
However, back to my pickle. It's becoming a mountain that I cannot climb alone. Please, I need your help. Car insurance lapsed. My tags were taken, license suspended, and I was hit with fees. To get back on the road, I need $1000 minimum. To drive my car that has working heat and defroster, I am looking at another $1000. $450 to $550 to replace my front brakes and rotors, tow fee to garage, and tires (I will get used). I am a server (recently upgraded to part-time bartender mid-December). I got more shifts but, I live in the middle of nowhere. No bus.
Tried MyAccess, a public transportation bus that picks you up from home, with low success rates. They either come really early, once 3 and a 1/2 hrs early before I had to work. Or, on very busy days, not at all. I rely heavily on Lyft to get me back and forth, especially to work. It's getting expensive. I have even had to borrow $$ from my brother so I could get a Lyft to work when asked to come in on my day off and was broke.
I added up my Lyft receipts, just for December and January, excluding the rides and/or tips I paid with cash. My total was almost $900. I spent, at minimum, $1500 on rides in December. So far, in January? I've already spent $400. How can I save $$ when it's all going to Lyfts, rides, gas station shopping, and delivery services???
I am begging for mercy. Any assistance would be appreciated and needed. I can't ask my parents, one waits for me in Heaven and the other is not in the picture.
Please donate if you can, no matter how small. I can show proof of my receipts. So far? Everyone I have shared them with have said that's insane. In one day alone, I spent $67.41 on Lyft to go to the doctor's, then the pharmacy, and then to work. I am being nickeled and dimed and it's not possible to get the $$ I need in a timely manner when it's all going to Lyft! Don't get me started on lyft prices during peak times, many times waited an hour for my ride cost to drop from $80 to a more reasonable price.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reading my story.
God bless.
Humbly,
Shelley
